Based in Canton with a background in biological science, he has worked in graphic design, print, and publishing for over 15 years. His inspiration often arises from breaking through self-imposed constraints, using the rational arrangement of text, graphics, and images as a point of departure to offer a more poetic reading of structured information.
Over the years, he has led a print studio, co-founded an interaction design collective, and provided extensive design support for independent cultural scenes in Canton. In 2020, he established the publishing studio Jyugam, an important venture dedicated to the design and release of sound-related works, which has produced 18 cassette albums to date (Sept 2025).
In 2023, he designed the artist book (inefficient) Love Manifesto, initiated by Jolie and zhangzin. The book is now held in the collections of Common Imprint (Berlin), Asia Art Archive (Hong Kong), Tai Kwun Contemporary Artists’ Book Library (Hong Kong), and the Thomas J. Watson Library at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York).
Work 'HakTang (Poster System HT 01)' deemed 'Excellent Work' and selected for the Tokyo TDC Annual Awards 2025.
In parallel, he develops works across sound, creative coding, and installation under the name mafmadmaf.
